Layout/whitebox - Connor

While designing the layout for our level, we each drew up a different section of the level multiple times to have some variety to choose from. I went with the park section and these were my three mockups. I knew I wanted some sort of trail in the final version of the level, but I also liked the idea of having a body of water to take up some space and make the area feel more outdoorsy.

Below was the original three designs, and from these I ended up choosing the park. I ended up not liking how the other two looked as much as the park, so I decided that I would do a mix  based off of all four of my drawings for the final layout.

Below is a digitized version of all three of our layouts. Once we had made this stage we begun to move onto the whitebox in Unity.

This was our whitebox, and the section shown down below is the park section I whiteboxed. I plan for the player to be able to look through the trees to spot people walking around, and for the trail area to be a more open space NPC's can walk through. I modeled spaces for a playscape, statue, as well as fountain in order to create areas where NPCs could gather in groups for the player to spot.

This is a top down of the whitebox, with all of the areas of the level shown. The area ended up being more square than we would have liked, but it allows for us to fit everything nicely in somewhat of a grid, and our assets will work better with the level being square shaped.
